Bedding

Bedding

Chopped and treated rape straw with added essential oils. Bliss bedding is subject to a unique dust extraction process.

Eucalyptus is a mild decongestant, which can also kill air born germs in winter. Citronella ensures the stable has a great fresh citrus smell during the summer months. Both varieties are highly unpalatable to horses.

Bliss is much easier to handle than straw and not subject to large price variations. It can take up to two years for shavings to rot on a muck heap, Bliss takes between three and six months.

How to use

Droppings

1. Ensure you remove droppings daily. In the average sized stable if you remove more than half a wheelbarrow of droppings it is likely you are removing too much bedding.

2. It is essential that you skip out regularly.

Wet

1. Remove any wet bedding every 6 - 7 days. Do not be tempted to remove wet any more frequently than this as BLISS works more effectively when the base of the bed is not disturbed and kept dry.

2. Always add 1 - 2 bales after a dig out. If you are working the bed correctly, it may appear that after a dig out the extra bedding is not required, however the extra bedding must be added otherwise it will become thin and the base will move around therefore resulting in the breakdown of the bed.
